Being Persistent In Your Prayer Life

Luke 18:1-8 KJV

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

When you pray, you do not become weak and you do not give up.

In verse 2,
"Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:"
You can see the situation may appear insurmountable. The widow did not let that issue stop her from getting it resolved. She continued until it was resolved to her satisfaction. If you are continually doing what is needed to get your answer, it will come, if it pleases the Lord. So keep praying!

In verse 3,
"And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary." You see, though your difficulty seems overwhelming, you can take it to God. When you consider who you are taking it to, it doesn't appear impossible any longer, does it?

In verses 4 and 5,
"And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me." You see that if when you do not receive an answer or a release in your spirit concerning the matter you are praying about, you are certainly to continue in prayer. Don't stop until you get the answer Yes, No or Wait.

Jesus said in verse 6, "Hear what the judge said." Why did He say? Reread verse 5,
"Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me." What is the key? She continued to come over and over again. She didn't stop until she received her desired verdict. Do you trust God enough to continue to go to Him until you see the desired answer come to you?

In verse 7, the question is asked, Will God not avenge His own people who come to him continually day and night? I say He will find faith, if we stay continually before Him.
