Tend The Garden
Genesis 2:15-17
15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.
16 But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden 17 except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.
Malachi 3:8-11
8 “Should people cheat God? Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?’ “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me. 9 You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!
11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not fall from the vine before they are ripe,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

We have been given the responsibility of watching over God's creation. We have our instructions and the perimeters which we are to operate in. The Word of God provides those instructions. When anyone chooses to violate clear instructions, you have violated God's Word. That is pointed out in Malachi 3. It can be corrected by obedience to His Word. As is described in Malachi 3, bringing the tithe is what God requires to turn everything around. If you are obedient to this instruction, the scripture says the windows of Heaven will opened to you.
According to Jack Hayford, "The Scripture speaks of the “windows of heaven,” the Hebrew word refers to sluice or sluice gates. (It is an artificial channel for conducting water, with a valve or gate to regulate the flow) The windows of heaven are like sluice gates. Imagine, if you will, an enormous dam, a majestic concrete structure cutting across a great river, the water backing up behind it. The sluice gates are opened, and out of the front of the dam there are gushing torrents of water being released. The water churns through the generators, sending power to distant areas, and rushes down to fill the area below." If you are obedient, God will guard what needs protecting and you will see increase.
